Our New Centre, The Lodge, is where our school age children come for fun activities, homework club, delicious snacks/meals and exciting camps out of school term! We are open from 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday and offer a breakfast club with drop to school each day as well as collection with supervised homework and fun activities each afternoon. We understand the importance of knowing your child is being well looked after while enjoying themselves and pride ourselves on our high standards.
We have a varied and nutritious menu with fresh meals cooked each day for the children, we do not add extra salt or sugar to any meal and as everything is prepared on site any allergies or dietary requirements can be catered for. All children have access to choose from a range of healthy snacks on their return from school, followed later in the afternoon by a delicious hot dinner. We change the menu regularly to keep mealtimes interesting and tasty for the children (adapting to special requests from the children also) we encourage self service at all meals/snacks so the children have ownership over what goes on their plate!
Activities are always optional, age appropriate (junior and senior groups) and are changed regularly should we find the children would like to try something new, some examples of our weekly groups are:
Cookery and baking where the children add a new recipe to their folder each week as well as enjoying their handmade snack/meal or bringing home to share (although we can’t guarantee they’ll save you some 😊)
Coding for 8yrs upwards, honing their computer skills with a professional
Martial arts at swift kick – keeping us moving and fit
Arts & Crafts - making amazing creations and projects!
GAA/Sports club at the local pitches
During school holidays the children ranging from 4-12 years take part in age appropriate themed camps incorporating varied activities throughout each week, these vary from forest and camping to community spirit with everything in between. We take on board ideas and suggestions from the children throughout the year. The children are in age appropriate groups for Juniors/Seniors and really enjoy spending fun time with their peers. There are regular trips during the school holidays ranging from trips on the Dart, to the beach, farms, tayto park, fort lucan and many more. We encourage all children to write, draw or stick pictures into their very own diary/scrap book throughout the summer to look back on.
There are lots of fun games and equipment within our Lodge for children who do not wish to participate in group activities, all children are encouraged to explore the room and the separate areas such as cosy area, arts and crafts creation station, lego area, dress up area, home corner etc.
Some activities and trips may require a small contribution from families, all are subsidised by Little Explorers and most are fully covered by ourselves.
